Ammonium sulfate is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula of (NH4)2SO4, colorless crystals or white particles, and odorless. Decomposition above 280ºC. Solubility in water: 70.6g at 0ºC and 103.8g at 100ºC. Insoluble in ethanol and acetone. The pH of 0.1mol/L aqueous solution is 5.5. The relative density is 1.77. The refractive index is 1.521. Ammonium sulfate is mainly used as fertilizer, which is suitable for various soils and crops. It can also be used in textile, leather and medicine.

      White crystalline powder, acidic aqueous solution. Insoluble in alcohol, acetone and ammonia. It is hygroscopic and solidified into a block after moisture absorption. Heating to above 513ºC can completely decompose into ammonia, nitrogen, sulfur dioxide and water. When it reacts with alkali, ammonia gas is released. React with barium chloride solution to generate barium sulfate precipitate. Can also make protein salting out.
